Artist's Profile

A Mancunian by birth, Jill now lives and works in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.

She is self-taught and describes herself as an ‘intuitive artist’ who paints what she feels, and most of her work reflects her feelings from within and her mood at the time.

Jill approaches a new canvas uncluttered with any preconceived ideas and allows her work to evolve from within herself.

Jill loves bright colours and uses acrylic paint, undiluted. Most of her work is on canvas with the occasional painting on hardboard. Although the bulk of her work is in the medium of acrylic, she also presents work in pastel, charcoal, watercolour and collage.

Jill was a tutor at Scarborough Sixth Form College for eleven years, where she taught art to special needs students in the Lifelong Learning Department of the College.
